Mavis Woodard Cooper Obituary (1924

Mavis Woodard Cooper, 94 of Arley, entered into rest on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Cooper was born on June 29, 1924, in Helicon, Alabama. Mavis attended Addison Church of God. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and cooking for her family. Mavis always encouraged her children, grandchildren and anyone she talked to, to live their life for the Lord. Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, from 5:30-7:30pm with services on Tuesday at 11am. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway will officiate. Burial will follow in Arley Congregational Cemetery. Mavis is survived by her grandsons, John Mitchell and his wife Janola, Jeff Mitchell, Mitchell Woodard, Aaron Woodard; granddaughters, Lynn Wilson and her husband James, Cheryl Kennedy and her husband Travis, and Jennifer Woodard; sister in law, Dorothy Wilkins, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She was "Granny" to 15 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Newton Woodard; her second husband, Louis Cooper; son, Jimmy Woodard; daughter, Wilma Mitchell; parents, Charlie and Nellie Wilkins; stepmother, Savannah Wilkins; grandchildren, Michael, Jimbo and Jared Woodard; brothers, Verban, Carlos, Ellis, Keith and Morrell Wilkins; and sister, Lois Cleghorn.
