JR Bell

J.R. Bell, 83, of Haleyville, entered into rest on September 27, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Bell was born on February 11, 1935 in Delmar, Alabama. J.R. served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division as a qualified parachutist. He loved his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and watching Alabama Football. Roll Tide!!

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Brother Gary Wakefield will officiate.

J.R. is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Bell; son, Greg Bell; daughter, Cheryl Dodd and her husband Scott; brother, Kenneth Bell and his wife Geraldine; and sister, Letty Faye Benefield and her husband Durell. He was "Papaw or Pappy" to 2 grandchildren, Tiffani Thomas and her husband Michael, and Tera Baggett and her husband Christian; and "Poppa" to 4 great grandchildren, Kennedy Thomas, Raileigh Thomas, Penelope Baggett, and Piper Baggett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.O. and Alma Bell.
