Jessie Dennis Cockrell Sr. Obituary (1942 - 2024)

Jessie Dennis Cockrell Sr., age 81 of Mount Hope, Alabama, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur. He was born December 04, 1942 to Amos and Bertie Cockrell in Winston County, Alabama. Burial will be at Double Springs Memorial Gardens on Sunday, November 17, 2024, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Lee Cockrell will officiate. Jessie is survived by his wife, Ona Cockrell; sons, Dennis (Faye) Cockrell, and Darrell (Teresa) Cockrell; daughters, Renee (Kyle) Somers, and Suzanne Andrews; sister, Joyce (Lynn) Dehart; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Bertie Cockrell; brother, Doyal Cockrell; and sister, Margaret Wallace.
