Denise Dawn Ruder

Denise Ruder, age 62, of Haleyville passed away on Tuesday September 1, 2026, at Lakeland Community Hospital.

She was born February 15, 1964, to Bill and Shirley Matthis. She found great joy in the simple things in life, especially spending time with her family. She loved cooking for those she loved, crocheting while watching her favorite crime shows, and cheering on Auburn football. An animal lover at heart, she dearly loved her pets and treasured mornings with a warm cup of coffee. Denise loved jewelry of all types and styles, enjoyed doing her nails, and always enjoyed a good yard sale.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville.

Denise is survived by her children, Richard Talis, Felicia Talis, Nicole Ruder, and Faith Ruder; grandchildren, Adam Talis, Carter Basenburg, Tori Talis, Haley Talis, Karson Butler, DJ Butler, Loryn Talis, and Axeton Ballard; great grandchildren, Avana Mason and Eziah Mason; mother, Shirley Jordan; and siblings, Teresa, Kim, Michael, Sherri, and Bill.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Ruder; brother, Mark Matthis, and father, Bill Scarbourgh.
