Billy Ray " Woody" Cowens

Billy Ray “Woody” Cowens, age 35, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville.

Billy was born on February 4, 1989 in Russellville. He was a member of Winston County Iron Angels Bike Club and loved to paint cars and do body work. Billy never met a stranger and was always eager to help anyone in need. He was a hard-working family man and a loving husband and father.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Alabama. Brother Jeff Whitten will officiate.

Billy is survived by his wife, Tonieka Cowens; sons, Austin Anderson and Tyler Cowens; stepsons, Jaycen Wheeler, Rhen Wheeler, and Logan Wheeler; stepdaughter, Livion Weaver; parents, Bart and Tina Storie; brothers, Josh (Kendra) Bunch and Dustin Storie; aunt and uncle, Mary and John Anderson; cousins, Matthew Anderson, Jordan Anderson, and Colton (Loren) Russell; aunt, Tonya (William) Brown; and uncle, Hershell Ray Durham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Cowens; grandparents, Fayrene Durham and Floyd Ray Durham; and step grandmother, Darlene Durham.
